A 44-year-old man has been arrested after allegedly stabbing a neighbour in the chest following an argument about a dog being walked loose near a children’s playground in La Laguna, Tenerife.
The National Police say the confrontation took place in the San Lázaro neighbourhood, where the victim challenged the suspect about having a potentially dangerous dog off its lead and without a muzzle.
An argument broke out between the two neighbours before the suspect left the area and went to his home.
According to investigators, he returned to the street minutes later carrying a kitchen knife from the property.
Police say he approached the victim and stabbed him in the chest without any further exchange of words or physical confrontation.
An ambulance attended the incident, and the injured man was taken to hospital for treatment. The information released does not specify the severity of his injuries or his current condition.
National Police officers arrested the suspect immediately, where he had remained following the alleged attack. They also seized the kitchen knife believed to have been used.
The detained man was subsequently brought before the judicial authorities. No details of any court decision have been released.
Police disclosed the operation today (Friday), but did not specify when the stabbing or arrest took place.
The account identifies both men as neighbours but does not name them or give the victim’s age. It also does not identify the dog’s breed, beyond describing it as potentially dangerous.
