A vehicle caught fire during the early hours of this morning (Thursday) in the Barranco de Mogán area of Gran Canaria, forcing the evacuation of several nearby homes as emergency crews rushed to contain the blaze.
The fire broke out between El Palmito and Las Burrillas and sparked concern among residents due to the close proximity of the flames to houses and surrounding vegetation.
Civil Protection teams from Mogán were the first to arrive at the incident. They secured the area, evacuated nearby properties as a precaution, and worked to prevent the fire from spreading before firefighters reached the area.
Firefighters from the Gran Canaria Emergency Consortium later brought the blaze under control and fully extinguished the vehicle fire. Officers from the Local Police and Guardia Civil also attended to assist with traffic control and public safety.
Emergency services confirmed that nobody was injured during the incident, although residents reported anxious moments as flames spread close to homes in the ravine area.
The cause of the fire has not yet been confirmed.
