A popular Brazilian snack has made its debut in south Tenerife, bringing a colourful twist to a familiar favourite. Duque Shops in Costa Adeje has welcomed Pipoca, a new food stall specialising in Brazilian-style popcorn topped with a variety of sweet and savoury flavours.
The name "Pipoca" simply means popcorn in Portuguese, and in Brazil it is one of the country's most popular snacks, and now, shoppers and visitors in Adeje can experience the Brazilian version for themselves.
Sweet or savoury
Customers can choose from a range of toppings designed to transform traditional popcorn into a more indulgent treat.
Sweet options include pistachio cream, Kinder chocolate, chocolate sauce and caramel, while those looking for something savoury can opt for combinations featuring bacon and barbecue flavours.
The concept offers a different take on what Canary Islanders know as "cotufas" – the word traditionally used across the islands for popcorn.

More than just popcorn
Pipoca's menu also includes another Brazilian favourite: açaí.
The Amazonian fruit has become increasingly popular worldwide in recent years, often served in chilled bowls and smoothie-style preparations. Known for its refreshing taste, açaí has become a go-to choice for people looking for lighter snack options, particularly in warm climates such as the Canary Islands.
Expanding the food scene
The arrival of Pipoca adds another international flavour to the growing food and leisure offering at Duque Shops.
While the concept centres around a simple and recognisable product, the Brazilian-inspired toppings and combinations offer something a little different for residents and tourists looking to try a new snack while shopping or exploring the south of Tenerife.
Whether you prefer pistachio-covered popcorn, chocolate-drizzled treats or smoky barbecue flavours, Pipoca is hoping to bring a taste of Brazil to Adeje – one box of popcorn at a time.
