The Canary Islands will see another day of light calima, mostly sunny skies and strong coastal winds today, Tuesday, according to the latest forecast from the State Meteorological Agency (AEMET).
Temperatures are expected to fall slightly in inland areas, although highs of 30–32°C are still forecast in parts of southern and western Gran Canaria. Temperatures could also reach 30°C in southern Fuerteventura and, more locally, in parts of the southern areas of the other islands.
The forecast comes as the Canary Islands Government's coastal pre-alert remains in force for several islands due to rough sea conditions.
Skies across the archipelago will be mostly clear or sunny, with some early morning cloud expected over western Lanzarote and Fuerteventura, as well as low-lying northern areas of the higher islands before clearing later in the day. Light calima will continue at higher altitudes.
Moderate north-easterly winds are expected throughout the islands, becoming strong along exposed south-eastern and north-western coastlines. Inland areas of Lanzarote and Fuerteventura could also experience occasionally very strong gusts.
