A German fugitive suspected of belonging to an international drug trafficking network has been arrested in Tenerife. The organisation allegedly sent large quantities of cocaine, amphetamines and cannabis from Spain to Germany.
The 33-year-old suspect was detained on 28th January following several months of surveillance. The alleged leader of the network is a 35-year-old German man who was later arrested at a property in Cartagena, Murcia, on 7th July.
German authorities began investigating the organisation in 2021 and requested assistance from Spain in 2025. The case was handled in Spain by the Guardia Civil’s organised crime and anti-drug unit in Alicante.
Investigators believe both men left Germany in June 2025 as authorities increased pressure on the network. Several dozen suspected drug shipments containing substantial quantities were intercepted during the investigation.
Officers traced the alleged leader to Alicante and his suspected associate to Tenerife, although their frequent movements initially made arrests difficult.
Both men have appeared before Spain’s National Court and have been remanded in custody. They are awaiting extradition to Germany to face the allegations against them.
