A 52-year-old woman needed medical treatment after being pulled to the ground by her hair and beaten during a violent robbery in Puerto de la Cruz, Tenerife.
The National Police have arrested two men in connection with the attack, in which the woman’s purse containing €300 was stolen. The pair are also suspected of robbing a teenage girl in a separate incident in the municipality.
According to police, the woman was dragged to the ground by her hair before being punched and kicked repeatedly. She suffered several injuries and required medical attention.
The investigation began after the two victims reported the robberies at the local police station. Officers noticed that their descriptions of the suspects matched.
Stolen phone helped police find suspects
In the second incident, a girl under the age of 18 had her mobile phone stolen in a violent robbery.
Police said the phone’s location helped officers track down the suspects after the men allegedly tried to sell it in an area of Puerto de la Cruz known for its bars.
Officers also credited information from members of the public with helping them find one of the suspects.
Both men were arrested on suspicion of the two robberies and have been brought before the judicial authorities. Police have not disclosed when the incidents took place or the exact locations where the victims were attacked.
