The owner of a shop has been arrested by the Guardia Civil in Grana Canaria for allegedly using the business as a front for drug dealing. According to police, the suspect had previous convictions for similar offences and was operating what investigators described as a “significant drug distribution” point in the area.
The operation, named “Yoshito 2.0”, led officers to dismantle the alleged drugs network after an investigation involving surveillance, monitoring and multiple drug seizures near the premises in Gáldar.
Investigators believe the suspect relocated his drug dealing activities into the store in an attempt to disguise the illegal business behind the normal day-to-day activity of the shop.
Police said the constant flow of customers entering and leaving the premises helped conceal the short visits made by drug buyers, who would reportedly spend only seconds inside before leaving with the substances purchased.
Drugs, Cash and Weapons Seized
Following the investigation, judicial authorities authorised a search of the premises.
During the raid, officers seized:
The operation also involved support from the USECIC public security unit and the canine unit from the Las Palmas Guardia Civil command.
Suspect Remanded in Custody
After his arrest, the suspect was brought before the court in Santa María de Guía, where the investigating judge ordered his provisional imprisonment while the investigation continues.
The Guardia Civil says the case remains open as officers continue analysing evidence gathered during the operation.
