A woman has been found dead inside a tent near Las Galletas in the municipality of Arona, south Tenerife. Her body was discovered yesterday afternoon (Thursday) by a man walking his dog in the area.
The man noticed a strong smell coming from the tent and alerted the Local Police. Officers found it secured from the inside and cut it open, discovering the woman’s body covered by a blanket.
Police believe she had died several days earlier. The woman, who was reportedly a homeless foreign national, had been staying temporarily in the tent.
It was located on open ground behind the Las Galletas sports centre, close to a parking area used by several campervans.
The woman was known to use the showers at Las Galletas beach to collect water and wash. People living nearby reportedly had not seen her for several days.
Guardia Civil officers found no visible signs of violence. A post-mortem examination will now establish the cause and circumstances of her death.
