Three people were injured, one of them seriously, after the car they were travelling in crashed into a wall in Las Chafiras on Thursday evening, according to reports from the Canary Islands Emergency and Security Coordination Centre (CECOES).
The accident happened at around 8:35pm on Avenida Claudio Delgado Díaz, the same road that Canarian Weekly offices are located on, when the vehicle left the road before colliding with the wall.
The most seriously injured was a 25-year-old man, who suffered a serious knee injury. He was treated at the scene by SUC paramedics before being taken by ambulance to Hospiten Sur University Hospital.
The other two occupants, aged 25 and 24, sustained moderate injuries. One suffered a knee injury and was also taken to Hospiten Sur, while the other, who sustained abdominal injuries, was transferred to Hospital del Sur.
Firefighters attended the scene to secure the vehicle and free one of the occupants, who had become trapped inside the car. Medical staff from the SUC and Primary Care services treated all three casualties before they were taken to hospital.
The Guardia Civil has launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash.
