Emergency services have confirmed the death of a 42-year-old man after he was found floating face down in the sea near Boca Cangrejo on the east coast of Tenerife.
The alert was raised at around 7:20pm when residents in the area contacted the Canary Islands Emergency and Security Coordination Centre (CECOES), after pulling the man from the water.
SUC paramedics were dispatched to the location given and found the man in cardiac arrest. They proceeded to carry out advanced cardiopulmonary resuscitation attempts, but despite their efforts they were unable to revive him and his death was confirmed on site.
The Guardia Civil have opened an investigation and are carrying out the corresponding procedures to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.
