The National Police are investigating a knife-point robbery at a clothes shop in Arrecife, after a man threatened a member of staff before escaping with the till.
The incident happened at around 2.30pm yesterday (Sunday) in the Argana neighbourhood of Lanzarote's capital and was subsequently reported to the National Police.
Footage circulated on social media appears to show a man wearing a cap entering the shop carrying a large knife.
According to the report, he approached the counter and threatened the shop assistant before taking the cash register.
The robbery unfolded within a matter of minutes. The employee initially tried to move away from the man before throwing a chair in an attempt to stop him from leaving with the till, but was unsuccessful.
Police have not yet identified the suspect and are continuing their investigation in an effort to find him.
No information has been provided about how much money was taken or whether the shop worker suffered any injuries.
