A direct ferry between Los Cristianos in Tenerife and Arguineguín in Gran Canaria is being considered as part of the Canary Islands Government’s draft transport strategy.
The route would link two of the islands’ main tourist areas and could make inter-island journeys easier for residents and holidaymakers travelling between the south of Tenerife and the south of Gran Canaria.
At present, passengers can sail between Agaete, in northern Gran Canaria, and Santa Cruz de Tenerife. The crossing takes around 80 minutes, but travellers heading between resorts such as Maspalomas and Adeje must also allow time for road journeys at both ends.
The proposed Los Cristianos–Arguineguín link appears in a draft strategy aimed at improving ferry connections across the Canary Islands. Arguineguín already has local passenger boat services to Anfi del Mar, Puerto Rico and Puerto de Mogán.
There is no confirmed operator, timetable, crossing time or start date for the proposed service. The strategy also does not say whether port changes would be needed.
A fast ferry between the two ports was previously considered by Naviera Armas in 2025. For now, the route remains a proposal, so travellers should continue to plan journeys using existing ferry services.
