Police find two bombs in a house in Corralejo
Two potentially dangerous explosive devices have been safely removed from inside a home in Corralejo, prompting a security response from specialist bomb disposal officers.
The devices were discovered on 15th April during a police operation at a property in the Atalaya Dorada residential area. Officers from the Guardia Civil identified the objects as possible military material and alerted the explosives disposal unit based in Lanzarote.
After reviewing photographs, the specialists confirmed the items were likely hazardous, which then triggered safety protocols. The area was secured until the bomb disposal team arrived to assess the situation on site.
Experts later confirmed the two 50mm mortar shells still contained explosive material. They were carefully removed and taken away for controlled destruction under safe conditions.
The Guardia Civil has reminded the public never to touch or move suspected explosive devices. Anyone who finds a suspicious object should leave the area immediately and contact emergency services.
They also stressed that military-grade equipment is strictly restricted to the armed forces, and private possession is prohibited.
