Woman rescued after falling into inspection pit at ITV centre in south Tenerife
Emergency services were called into action on Monday evening after a woman fell into an inspection pit at a vehicle testing station (ITV) in Las Chafiras in the south of Tenerife,
Firefighters from the San Miguel de Abona station, responded to the incident after an alert was raised by the CECOES at around 7:05pm.
Upon arrival, crews carried out an initial assessment of the injured woman before entering the pit to safely immobilise her. She was then handed over to SUC paramedics for further treatment.
Local Police and officers from the Guardia Civil also attended the scene to assist with the operation.
Hotel kitchen fire contained
Earlier in the day, firefighters from Guía de Isora were called to a separate incident at around 2:20pm, after a small fire broke out in a hotel complex in the municipality.
According to initial reports, the blaze started in an electric deep-fat fryer located in the hotel’s restaurant kitchen. The fire was quickly brought under control with the support of volunteer firefighters from Guía de Isora, preventing any serious damage.
Police and Guardia Civil units were also deployed to ensure safety around the area.
Third call-out in Alcalá
The busy day for emergency crews continued with a third incident at approximately 2:50pm, when firefighters were called to Alcalá following reports of a vegetation fire.
Once again, local volunteers and police officers assisted in tackling the blaze, which was successfully contained without causing significant material damage.
