Fugitive Pamela Gwinnett has officially been arrested on arrival in the UK after being extradited from Tenerife to the UK to face more court proceedings and begin serving a six-year prison sentence for fraud and theft offences.
The 63-year-old was detained by Greater Manchester Police officers at Manchester Airport yesterday evening (Thursday 30th July) after being returned to Britain following an international operation involving the National Crime Agency (NCA) and the Spanish authorities.
Gwinnett had been on the run after failing to appear at court in the UK, where she was convicted in her absence in October 2025. She was sentenced to six years in prison for a number of offences, including fraud by abuse of position and theft relating to Joan Green, an 89-year-old pensioner, who she coerced and stole almost £300,000 from.
She is due to appear before Preston Crown Court today (Friday), where she will face proceedings relating to her previous failure to appear before the court, including facing an extended sentence for fleeing the country while on bail, and potentially more if she doesn’t repay the money to Joan Green’s estate.
Her return follows months of cooperation between UK and Spanish law enforcement agencies, who worked together to confirm her whereabouts and complete the extradition process.

The arrest brings to an end a high-profile international manhunt and means Gwinnett is now expected to begin serving the custodial sentence handed down last year.
Greater Manchester Police thanked the National Crime Agency and the Spanish authorities for their assistance in securing her return to the UK so she can face justice.
