The Guardia Civil have arrested three teenage boys in connection with a series of 12 break-ins at commercial premises in Granadilla de Abona, in the south of Tenerife.
The suspects, all local residents of the municipality, have been referred to the Juvenile Prosecutor's Office following their arrest. According to the Guardia Civil, the burglaries took place during March and April this year, with the businesses targeted outside normal opening hours.
Investigation Launched After Spike in Break-ins
The investigation, carried out under Operation Pueri, began after officers at the Granadilla de Abona Main Police Post noticed a sharp increase in reports of burglaries affecting businesses in the area.
Investigators found that the offences followed a similar pattern. The burglars allegedly smashed shopfront windows to gain entry before stealing cash and other valuable items from inside the premises.
Suspects Identified
As enquiries progressed, officers linked the crimes to a group of minors living in Granadilla de Abona. After identifying those believed to be involved, three teenagers were arrested.
The suspects, together with the investigation files, have now been placed at the disposal of the Juvenile Prosecutor's Office, which will determine the next steps in the case.
The Guardia Civil has not released further details about the identity of the suspects due to their age.
