A Binter flight from Tenerife to Fuerteventura was diverted to Gran Canaria Airport yesterday evening (Sunday) due to a technical issue during the journey.
Flight NT994 left Tenerife North Airport shortly after 8.30pm but changed course while en route. The ATR 72-600 landed safely in Gran Canaria without further incident.
Several passengers said the crew told them there was a suspected fault with one of the aircraft’s engines. The diversion was made as a precaution.
After waiting at Gran Canaria Airport, the passengers continued their journey on another flight and arrived safely in Fuerteventura.
A similar incident occurred in December 2025, when a Jet2 flight from London Stansted to Fuerteventura was diverted to Faro following a reported engine problem. The aircraft landed safely in Portugal, with the airline referring to an onboard technical issue.
