Food lovers are in for a treat this month as the popular Adeje Chicken Fair returns for its second edition, bringing together local restaurants that specialise in the famous Adeje Chicken, with live entertainment and family activities in the heart of the town.
Organised by Adeje Town Hall in collaboration with the Association of Businesspeople, Traders and Professionals of Adeje (AECPA), the event will take place on Saturday 13th June from 6pm until 1am along Calle Grande and Plaza de España.
Visitors will be able to sample a wide variety of dishes prepared by 14 local businesses, all showcasing Adeje’s famous, and in many cases secret, chicken recipe, which has been a culinary tradition in the municipality for more than 40 years.
Participating establishments include Restaurante España, Vermutería La Isa, Tasca El Cañón, La Fonda Central, Donde Jona, La Tasquita de Adeje, Sapori di Grano, Taskita Juanito, Restaurante Otelo, Pica Pica La Favorita, Restaurante Aroma y Sabor, Buddha Sano, Empanadas Artesanales Edén and Crepería Vicenta.
The food offering will be complemented by wines from the Abona wine-growing region, as well as a selection of homemade desserts.
Focus on inclusion
One of the highlights of this year’s event is its strong focus on accessibility and inclusion.
According to Adeje’s Councillor for Economic Development and Employment, Alberto Álvarez, the fair aims not only to celebrate local traditions and support businesses, but also to ensure that everyone can take part.
To achieve this, organisers will provide a reserved viewing and access area for people with reduced mobility. A dedicated children’s zone will also be available in Plaza de España, featuring workshops, bouncy castles and a childcare service, with priority access for children with functional diversity.
Packed entertainment programme
The evening will feature a full line-up of live performances, beginning at 6pm with the Comparsa K'nadum carnival group.
Other acts scheduled throughout the night include La Diata, Parranda El Mesturao, Los Vándalos, Aseres, Banda 101 Brass Band and La Chalana, which will close the event shortly before 1am.
The popular Fanfarria Santa Catalina will also perform twice during the evening.
Adding to the festivities, this year's fair will have its own official song, created by Parranda El Mesturao, whose music video was recently premiered by Adeje Town Hall.
Free cooking workshops
In the days leading up to the event, visitors can also take part in a series of free gastronomy workshops led by chefs from participating restaurants and coordinated by culinary advisor Pablo Pastor.
The workshops will take place between 9th and 11th June and will explore traditional recipes, chilli flavours and seasoning techniques for chicken dishes.
The Adeje Chicken Fair has quickly become one of the municipality’s most popular gastronomic events, celebrating local cuisine while supporting businesses and showcasing the rich culinary heritage of southern Tenerife.
