The Canary Islands can expect a mixture of cloud, brighter spells and potentially heavy showers today, Wednesday 4th November, with a yellow weather warnings for rain in place across the archipelago.
The showers are expected to be scattered rather than constant, but some could be intense and accompanied by thunderstorms. Inland areas are most likely to see the heaviest downpours, although conditions could change quickly elsewhere.
AEMET’s yellow warning is in place from 11.00am until 8.00pm today, with up to 15mm of rain possible in an hour in affected areas.
The Canary Islands Government also placed the entire archipelago under a rain pre-alert from 10.00am yesterday, Tuesday 3rd November. This is a separate precautionary measure from AEMET’s weather warning and reflects the possibility of further heavy rain and storms. The government has highlighted uncertainty over exactly where showers will develop and how long they will last.
Anyone travelling or planning outdoor activities should keep an eye on the sky and allow extra time if heavy rain develops. Avoid driving through flooded roads or walking through running water, and follow local advice if conditions deteriorate.
