Five of the Canary Islands will remain under yellow weather warnings this weekend as strong winds and rough sea conditions continue across the archipelago, according to the State Meteorological Agency, AEMET.
Authorities are advising residents and visitors to take extra care in exposed coastal and mountain areas throughout the weekend, particularly when driving or taking part in outdoor and marine activities.
The warnings affect the following islands, with gusts expected to reach up to 80km/h in some exposed areas:
Tenerife
Tenerife is under two separate yellow warnings this weekend.
The first warning, for coastal conditions, begins at 8pm tonight, Friday, and remains active until 5am on Sunday. It affects the east, south and west coasts of the island, where northeast winds of between 50 and 61km/h (force 7) are expected, particularly in the channel between Tenerife and Gran Canaria.
A second warning for strong winds will run throughout Saturday, affecting eastern, southern and western parts of the island. Gusts of up to 70km/h are forecast, especially on the southeast coast and higher areas of the west. AEMET has warned that gusts could locally exceed 80km/h, including around Las Cañadas.
Gran Canaria
Gran Canaria is also under yellow alerts for both rough seas and strong winds.
The coastal warning remains active from Friday evening until early Sunday morning, with strong northeast winds expected in the channel between Tenerife and Gran Canaria and along southeastern coastal areas.
The wind warning covers Saturday and affects summit areas as well as eastern, southern and western parts of the island, where gusts of up to 70km/h are forecast.

La Gomera
La Gomera will also remain under a yellow warning throughout Saturday. Strong gusts of up to 70km/h are expected in summit areas and exposed southeastern and western slopes.
