Warm conditions are forecast across the four main holiday islands today, Wednesday 14th October, with AEMET predicting a maximum of 30°C at Maspalomas beach and 29°C at several other checked locations.
The forecast varies between islands and between the north and south of Tenerife. Residents and holidaymakers should use the figures as local forecasts rather than assume that every resort will experience identical conditions.
TENERIFE
Adeje’s municipal forecast gives a maximum of 29°C and a minimum of 20°C, with high cloud during the day. Rain probabilities are very low and the forecast winds are light.
That provides a useful indication for the southwest, although temperatures on the Costa Adeje seafront can differ from those forecast for Adeje town.
Puerto de la Cruz has a different outlook. AEMET predicts a maximum of 28°C and a minimum of 21°C, with considerable morning cloud and the possibility of light rain during the afternoon.
The northern forecast also includes stronger northeasterly winds than at Adeje, before clearer conditions become more likely during the evening.
GRAN CANARIA
At Maspalomas beach, AEMET forecasts a maximum of 30°C, cloudy conditions during both the morning and afternoon, and moderate wind.
The beach forecast describes wave conditions as weak and gives a sea temperature of 24°C. Its maximum ultraviolet index is seven, so cloud cover should not be mistaken for an absence of sun exposure.
These are coastal figures. The separate forecast for San Bartolomé de Tirajana town, at a much higher elevation, gives a maximum of 28°C and a minimum of 15°C. Those town temperatures should not be presented as the overnight forecast for Maspalomas.
LANZAROTE
Tías is forecast to reach 29°C, with a minimum of 21°C. Skies should be mostly clear during the day, becoming clear in the evening, with no rain forecast in the checked time periods.
Northerly winds are expected to strengthen later, with forecast gusts of around 40 to 45km/h in the afternoon and evening periods.
The figures refer to Tías town rather than the Puerto del Carmen seafront, where local conditions can vary.
FUERTEVENTURA
Antigua’s forecast gives a maximum of 29°C and a minimum of 19°C. Morning cloud should give way to brighter conditions, with no rain predicted in the checked periods.
Pájara is also forecast to reach 29°C, with a minimum of 20°C. High cloud should give way to mostly clear skies, followed by a clear evening.
For beach trips and outdoor plans, the main picture is warm weather with local differences in cloud and wind. Follow beach flags and check the local forecast before heading out, especially when travelling between the coast and higher ground.
