Police are searching for five hooded suspects following a violent robbery at a jewellery store inside the Centro Comercial Las Terrazas shopping centre in Telde, Gran Canaria, on Tuesday night.
According to reports from the National Police headquarters, the robbery took place at around 9:10pm when five masked young men entered the shop armed with hammers.
Smash-and-Grab Raid
Once inside, they reportedly smashed several display cabinets before grabbing jewellery and placing the stolen items into bags.
Police say the robbery lasted only a few minutes, but the gang managed to escape with an as yet undetermined quantity of jewellery before officers arrived at the scene.
After leaving the store, the suspects fled through the shopping centre car park in a grey Audi Q3 that had previously been reported stolen.

Investigation Underway
The investigation has now been taken over by the Judicial Police unit in Telde, which is working to identify and locate those responsible.
At the time of publication, no arrests had been made and authorities have not yet confirmed the exact value of the stolen jewellery.
The incident caused concern at one of Gran Canaria’s busiest commercial centres, particularly as the robbery happened during business hours and shortly before many shops were due to close.
Police continue to gather evidence and review information as the investigation remains ongoing.
