SATURDAY WEATHER: A sunny day with 25°C across the Canary Islands
The Spanish Met Office (AEMET) is forecasting largely fine and settled weather across the Canary Islands this Saturday, welcome news for residents and holidaymakers alike. Resort areas in the south are likely to remain bright and warm for most of the day, while northern towns could see more variable cloud.
Skies are expected to be mostly clear, with only occasional high cloud. Some daytime cloud build-up could develop inland across Tenerife and the western islands, while the north-facing slopes may see patches of low cloud at times.
Temperatures will remain largely unchanged, although maximums could edge slightly higher along southeast coasts. Light northeasterly winds will prevail, stronger in Gran Canaria and the eastern islands.
Coastal and Sea Conditions
At sea, winds will be variable at force 1 to 2, strengthening to northeasterly force 3 to 5. Conditions will range from smooth to slight, becoming moderate later. A northwesterly swell of between one and two metres is also expected.
Here’s what to expect in each island on Saturday 2nd May 2026:
Lanzarote
Lanzarote will enjoy a mainly bright and sunny day, with just some high-level cloud drifting overhead at times. By late afternoon and into the evening, cloud cover is expected to increase in the north of the island, particularly around Haría and surrounding areas.
Temperatures will remain comfortable, with a slight rise possible in southeast coastal spots such as Playa Blanca. Winds will be light to moderate from the northeast, which could make it feel fresher along exposed eastern coasts.
Overall, it’s shaping up to be an ideal beach day, though those heading north later in the day may notice more cloud cover.
General temperatures: Low of 17°C and high of 24°C.
Fuerteventura
Fuerteventura will also see predominantly clear skies, with intervals of high cloud. Early risers in the east of the island, including Corralejo and Caleta de Fuste, may encounter patches of low cloud during the morning, but these should clear as the day progresses.
Temperatures will hold steady, with a slight increase possible in the southeast. Light to moderate northeasterly winds will be noticeable, especially along the more exposed western and northern coasts, potentially creating breezier beach conditions.
Sea conditions may be slightly choppier at times, so swimmers and water sports enthusiasts should take care.
General temperatures: Low of 17°C and high of 25°C.
Gran Canaria
Gran Canaria will experience intervals of high cloud, particularly during the middle of the day. In the north of the island — including Las Palmas and surrounding areas — there may be some low cloud early in the morning and again later in the evening.
Southern coastal resorts such as Maspalomas and Puerto Rico are likely to see the best of the sunshine, with temperatures edging up slightly. Northeasterly winds will be more pronounced along southeast and northwest slopes, while the southwest may benefit from lighter sea breezes.
Visitors in the south can expect warm, bright conditions for most of the day.
General temperatures: Low of 18°C and high of 24°C.
Tenerife
Tenerife will see partly cloudy skies overall, but with plenty of sunshine, particularly during the early part of the day. Cloud cover may increase slightly as the day goes on, especially across northern areas.
Temperatures will remain largely unchanged at coastal level, though higher altitudes — including around Mount Teide — may see a modest rise. Northeasterly winds will be light in general but stronger along the southeast coast and in the far northwest. In the central highlands, winds will be light and westerly.
General temperatures: Low of 18°C and high of 25°C.
Please remember:
It’s important to be aware that the Canaries consist of micro-climates across the islands due to the mountainous areas. This means all forecasts and temperatures are general for the island, and not location specific. It will generally be cooler at altitude up mountains, and warmer in sheltered coastal areas, and can be very different just a few kilometres away.
